Therefore, I want to talk about this semester as a whole. It was a huge change from high school. First of all, I am living on campus so I had to get used to an alarm clock every morning by the way that sucks! Also, throught the semester I've had to learn how to handle stress. This semester was really stressful I dont know if it was just because I wasnt used to all the work or what. Going to the gym really helped out alot with stress, for some reason when I got back from the gym I was always in the mood to work, which was a good thing. LOL! This semester has made me realize that I seriously have to study and its not a joke! Although my grades aren't terrible I do think they could be better. So hopefully the things I learned this semester I will take with me next. I am ready to get all these pre-req classes out of the way and begin the classes that I have to do with my major. Well pretty much I am ready to pursue my career as a pharmacist and begin making the big bucks! lol So, this semester wasn't that bad after all, it got better as the time progressed.

BA #12

Everyday I take notes, text message, or send an email. The way I write in those types of communication are totally different than the way I approach scholarly writing. When I email, text or take notes I use abbreviations. For example, I write “u” instead of you or “b/c” short for because. I do this because it is quicker and a lot easier. I have made this type of writing a habit because I’m used to doing it daily. Therefore, I have noticed when writing or typing papers I am abbreviating instead of writing the entire word. Over the past three months I feel like I really learned how to analyze a paper. Before when asked to analyze or paraphrase a paper I thought it was the same thing. Well I was wrong and now I feel as if I know how to analyze correctly. Also in high school the English teachers really hammered the 5 paragraph paper in our head and I stuck to it. I had to have my thesis before writing my paper and my thesis had 3 points and those points were my body paragraphs. I quickly learned it doesn’t have to be like that. So over the semester I learned several things and also the Brief Handbook helped a lot when writing papers.

BA #11

1st source: scholary The first source is called Technological Security. In this article there was plenty of information about computers, trends in technology, and security measures. Although there was a lot of information in the article, most of it was not related to identity theft. Therefore, I could not take a whole lot from this one source but I did a little out of it. I took that computer systems are undergoing continual change. And that these changes increase the systems vulerability to fraud because security measures tag behind new technology. Meaning that forms of new technology are being invented daily and because of this it is making the investigators job hard. The criminals are one step ahead in that the investigators cant keep up. This will fit into the role that computers play towards the negative affect of technology on identity theft.
3rd source: not scholary "I was a victim of ID theft" In this article there are several examples of victims' stories of how their identity was stolen and what they had to do to recover it. One example tells how when the victim told the police all the police said was it was a matter between the victim and the credit card company. This fits well into my paper when talking about the punishment of an identity thief. Also a couple of the examples will help start my introduction.
source The second scholary source was called Punishment and Crime. In my paper I plan on giving ways to decrease the rate of idenity theft and I plan on doing this by giving a better punishment for the crime. According to this source they believe prison is a good punishment because they imply that being in prison will prevent the criminal from committing crimes against the free communtiy, which is true because they will be locked up. They also says that once the criminal is released they will be less prone to commit another crime. So this information will also fit under the punishment.
4th source: not scholary "New Law Means Stiff Punishment for Identity Thieves" Once again this article is talking about the punishment for identity theft. The penalty used to be three years max in prison will the law named, Identity Theft Penalty Enhancement Act expands the penalty from three to five years in prison. It also states that Pres. Bush said that the law "sends a clear message that a person who violates another's financial privacy will be punished" So it sounds like they are cracking down on identity thieves hoping that this will decrease the rate of identity theft.

BA #10

I plan on revising my research paper by concentrating more on leading towards one side. I believe the use of technology has increased the rate of identity theft. Once I state why I think this and use my research to back it up then I believe I will be able to also argue the point. I am also going to need to break down and expand on my points a little more. I think that once I get more sources then the progress of the paper will speed up. I am going to need to clarify my thesis and state exactly my argument. Therefore, my new thesis sentence is Technology has had a negative effect on crimes and scams specifically identity theft. Some will disagree with me and led more towards technology having a negative affect. The argument for that will be that technology has caused identity theft. That if it weren't for technology, mainly the computers, then criminals wouldn't be able to axcess others information. Also if it weren't for all the things on the internet then people wouldn't be putting their name, social security number, credit card numbers, and all that on the internet anyway. Then I can turn around and say yea this is true but like Nardi and O'Day implied technology is inevitable, its going to happen rather we want it to or not. So the computer and internet is inevitable. But since we have the crime, identity theft, with the use of techology we can catch the criminals.

BA #7

Not much field research can be done on my research question. Since I’m not talking about how often I play video games, use my cell phone, watch TV, or what not it is hard to do research on identity theft. Although, I can use myself as an example, do you ever enter any information in the computer? Well I do. I order items such as clothes, shoes, pocket books, and so much more off the internet. To do this one must put in a credit card number, names, addresses and a lot more information. By putting this information on the internet it is not safe, crazy people can somehow get my information and begin to use my identity. I don’t do this all this time but it does happen kind of often. This might not be the best research but it is the only field research I can do with this question. I think I will help progress the paper.

Research ? updated

My new research question is:
Does technology have a postive or negative affect towards crimes specifically identity theft?
I really cannot do much field research therefore, i will use myself as an example. Crimes and scams such as lottery scams, casino robberies, internet scams, hijackers and so many more. The postive aspect of it is that technology had helped track down criminals through detecting finger prints, DNA, and so forth by using computers. Through technology so many things can be determined. Some negatives are technology has helped criminals get away with the crime. They are more sly because of technology. They leave no evidence behind. Because of technology they have been able to commit crimes, felonies, or whatever and get away with it. One thing I conclude from a website is that if it weren't for computers then we wouldn't have been able to catch credit card fraud, superannuation fraud, or computer hacking. From the website www.secretservice.gov/financial_crimes.shtml will provide examples of how technology has affected crimes in a negative way. It will give many crimes and scams of all categories. Overall I believe this website will be pretty useful but if I come across another filled with more information I will replace this one.

BA #5

In the article, "Tune Out" Mulholland and Martin both argue that we watch TV way to much and it takes away from our social life. People are glued to TV, 4.5 hours is the average of how much a person watches TV a day. They state how nothing else plays as big as role in our lives as TV, also that TV is a means of entertainment. They also assert that TV is habitual and it separates us from our family. All of these main assertions appeal to something such as reason, evidence, character or emotion. I would conclude that the whole article is inductive because it applies to general claims and that they dont have strong enough evidence to back up the truth. Muholland and Martin received all their information from one website, Killyourtv.com. All they basically had was statistics. Therefore, they would need more references and facts to back up their claim. Most of their assertions appeal to reason, although I think they could also appeal to evidence. The assertion that TV is habitual appeals to reason because Mulholland Martin are claiming how we watch TV consistently everyday. They experiment using Mulholland's life. They keep a recorded to determine when Mulholland watches TV, and what they concluded supports their claim. Another example of appealing to reason is that TV separates families. During the experiment of not watching TV for a month, they concluded that Adrienne and her dad became distant and also Jake began starting at walls. This could also be used as evidence.

BA #4

Just by looking at the title, the author’s biographical information, and the first line or two of each paragraph I sense that the article will discuss how the television has affected our social lives. Jake Mulholland and Adrienne Martin are student’s who have researched, planned, and wrote the article, “Tune Out”. They decided to conduct an experiment to discover how much television has been a negative impact on our social lives. My expectations were met. I believed that the average person would watch about four hours of TV a day. Many people love to watch TV. Their experiment was that they kept track of their daily lives and recorded how TV and movies influenced them. In their experiment they found that TV was consistently watched, it’s not that is was scheduled out but was consistently watched around the same time everyday. In the article, the example was given that, “when Jake gets home form school, he automatically turns on his TV. He instinctively turns it on…It has become a habit. I believe this is true, on Mondays and Tuesday I watch a show on MTV, therefore, it has become a habit to me. Both Jake and Adrienne state how they believe that TV is not watched effectively. TV can be a major distraction, more important things could be getting done but instead people are glued to watching television. I know sometimes I will stop an assignment that I am in the middle of just to watch TV. The one thing I thought would have been in the article is both
what people are watching and the time frame, not just the time frame. A lot of what is watch on TV is useless but there are some educational shows that are teaching us and not just a distraction of one’s time.

My web blog anaylsis

I chose to do my web blog anaylsis on this

Analysis on Angelica

I chose to do my analysis on Angelica O'Neal. We have Math 108 together but I didn't realize this is was the same person until the other day. Therefore we just met. I feel like we have a lot in common. Angelica seems like very laid back, she likes to hang out with friends and just have a great time. From talking to her in math class she seems smart and very family oriented. She has goals in life and has her priorties straight to accomplish those goals. She seems like a girlie girl who likes to shop and get all dressed up but then is a huge football fan. Therefore, Angelica seems to be the type of girl who any and everyone can get along with. I bet she can carry on conversations about anything. I believe she is very outgoing and has a great personality. I would like to continue getting to know her better because I am always looking foward to meeting new people.

Hey yall! I am from Wagener, SC . I am the middle child, I have a older sister named Kayla who attends Clemson University, and a younger sister name Kristin, who is a sophmore in high school. I attended Wagener-Salley High School. While in high school I played softball and cheered. I was also a FFA officer and active member. With the FFA I have had many opportunties, I have met numerous people and also been able to travel all over the US. I have attended the National FFA Convention twice which is held in Louisville, Kentucky, I have been to the National Soils Competition in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and also attended a leadership conference in Washington DC. I can say that I will always have memories from high school. At USCA I plan on getting my pre-pharmacy degree, then in two years transferring to the Medical University of South Carolina, where I plan on getting my pharmacy degree. I would like to be a pharmacist for many reasons, I believe I can make a difference by helping the sick get better. On my free time I enjoy sleeping, going to the movies, hanging out with friends, playing softball, and a lot more. My favorite color is orange and I am a huge Clemson Tiger fan. I love to watch college football. I always pull for two teams Clemson and whoever is playing Carolina. I also like the Atlanta Braves, Chipper Jones is my favorite. I really enjoy meeting new people, playing sports, and just having a good time.

hey sweetie

hey how are you?
